His formative years were not merely about learning to paint, but about developing a visual language that could synthesize the geometric precision of the avant-garde with the soulful, rhythmic motifs found in the Romanian countryside.

As his career progressed through the 1950s and 60s, Șaru’s work underwent a profound metamorphosis. He moved away from the descriptive, narrative style of traditional figurative painting toward a complex, non-figurative abstraction.
