This series was born from a simple observation made while grocery shopping in March 2020, seeing a woman wearing a makeshift cloth mask. It was an impulse to document the shifting sense of normalcy during a time of global uncertainty.

In this project, she sought to move away from the individual and toward the collective experience. Her process was intentionally unpolished:

  • She used oil paints on small 8x10 sheets of canvas.
  • Materials were often sourced from whatever was available or borrowed from fellow artists.
  • The finished works were held in place simply by thumb tacking them to a wall.
