The Silent Witness of Kamakura’s Zen Landscape
In the quiet, mist-shrouded corridors of late 15th and early 16th century Japan, a profound spiritual introspection was taking root, far removed from the chaotic echoes of the Ōnin War. It was within this atmosphere of contemplative stillness that Kenkō Shōkei, known more intimately to history as sekkei, emerged as a pivotal voice in the Japanese artistic landscape.
