Franklin Carmichael (* 4. Mai 1890 in Orillia, Ontario, Kanada; † 24. Oktober 1945 in Toronto) war ein kanadischer Künstler und Mitglied der Gruppe von sieben. Neben seiner Arbeit als Maler war er auch als Grafikdesigner und Illustrator tätig. Er entwarf Werbebroschüren, Anzeigen für Zeitungen und Zeitschriften und gestaltete Bücher. Er war das jüngste Gründungsmitglied der Gruppe von sieben, einer Künstlervereinigung, die sich der Darstellung der kanadischen Landschaft widmete.

Leben

Franklin Carmichael wurde 1890 in Orillia geboren und entwickelte bereits im jungen Alter künstlerisches Talent. Seine Mutter förderte ihn sowohl musikalisch als auch künstlerisch und stellte ihm Musik- und Zeichenunterricht zur Verfügung. Er studierte ab 1910 am Ontario College of Art unter William Cruickshank und George Reid, wo er sich mit Gustav Hahn bekannt machte.
