Throughout his career, Hahs held a significant position as a professor at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle, where he taught decorative painting and graphics. He was also involved in the Werbewerkstätten, a collaborative workshop with Hans Finsler that undertook various commissions for the city of Halle.
Hahs's artistic output was diverse, ranging from large-scale murals and stage designs for the Cottbus State Theater to smaller formats. He was known for utilizing industrial lacquers in his work. His teaching influenced numerous students, including Otto Müller and Paul Zilling. In his later years, he worked as a restorer in Linz and taught at the Winckelmann-Gymnasium in Stendal.
