A Life Between Continents
Aquiles Badi was a twentieth-century Argentine painter born in Buenos Aires. His formative years were shaped by a dual existence, having spent his childhood in Milan, Italy, where he studied at the Regio Collegio Tomasseo. After earning a Technical License in 1909, he returned to Buenos Aires to study at the National Academy of Fine Arts, forming close friendships with painters Horace Butler and Héctor Basaldúa.
His career was marked by extensive travel and residence in major European art centers. Following his studies in Paris at the Julian Academy and the Le Fauconier Workshop, he lived in Sanary-Sur-Mer and Cagnes, France. During the 1930s, Badi was an active participant in the "Paris Group" while residing in Milan and Paris. During World War II, he lived in Milan, contributing illustrations to publications such as The Lettura, Nuevo Corriere della Sera, and Martedì.
