Shi Lin, also known by his courtesy name Tianrui, was a prominent figure of the Ming dynasty. Born in Yuyao County, Zhejiang, he was a man of vast learning and diverse talents, excelling in poetry, calligraphy, and painting. His artistic mastery was particularly evident in his depictions of ink bamboo, a subject he rendered with exceptional skill. Beyond his creative pursuits, Shi Lin was a distinguished official who rose through the imperial ranks, serving in roles such as the Right Vice Censor-in-Chief and eventually attaining the high position of Right Censor of the Censorate.
