The Life and Art of Ulvi Liegi
Born in Livorno, Italy, the painter Luigi Mosè Levi became known professionally by the anagram Ulvi Liegi. His artistic journey began with an initial education in his hometown before he moved to Florence to study at the Academy of Arts under Adolfo Tommasi, Carlo Markò the Younger, and Giuseppe Ciaranfi. During his time in Florence, he formed friendships with artists such as Telemaco Signorini and Giovanni Fattori.

This shift followed his travels to Paris and London between 1886 and 1888, where he studied the works of the impressionists. His presence in the international art scene was marked by his participation in the 1889 World's Fair in Paris.
