astronomo copernico , oppure conversations with god è un dipinto ad olio dell'artista polacco jan matejko , finito in 1873 , raffigurante nicolaus copernicus che osserva i cieli da un balcone da una torre vicino alla cattedrale di frombork ( visto nella parte posteriore ) . attualmente il dipinto è nella collezione dell'università jagellonica di cracovia , che lo acquistò da un proprietario privato con denaro donato dal pubblico polacco . il dipinto orna attualmente l'aula del collegium novum dell'università . Come con molte altre opere , Matejko ha dipinto le sue opere d'arte in 1872 come parte di una serie di dipinti destinati a rappresentare momenti profondi della storia della polonia .
