schlaf und sein Half-Brother Tod ( 1900 ) ist ein ölgemälde der engländer Pre-Raphaelite maler john william waterhouse . Die beiden figuren lehnen sich nebeneinander auf einer niedrigen couch zurück , dahinter sind die säulen einer kolonnade, die zur nacht hin offen und vom mondlicht berührt sind . Der innenraum wird von einer lampe beleuchtet , dessen licht auf die vorderste figur strömt , Schlaf , dessen kopf hängt in schwerer betäubung an seiner brust , und seine rechte hand greift nach mohnblumen .
