Il bambino sta guardando in alto , la madre guarda in basso — non c'è contatto visivo . L'ambientazione del ritratto è una stanza con due finestre su ciascun lato delle figure . è esposto permanentemente nella galleria alte pinakothek di monaco , Germania dal 1889 dopo che era di proprietà privata .
