"Like così tanti Titian's altre opere , è probabile che questo ritratto sia un ritratto idealizzato della bellezza femminile , e non una rappresentazione precisa di una sola persona . ciò è corroborato dal duca di urbino , oms , in una lettera che ha scritto a maggio 2nd 1536 , semplicemente descritto come " " signora in abito blu " " . Il dipinto ottiene il suo opulento , appello sensuale principalmente dalla sua magistrale combinazione di valori di colore , dal vestito blu con maniche rosse , fino ai toni della carne e al marrone dorato , capelli abilmente intrecciati . "
