die vertreibung von heliodorus ist ein fresko des italienischen renaissance-malers raphael . Es wurde zwischen gemalt 1511 und 1512 im rahmen Raphael's auftrag, die heute als stanze di raffaello bekannten räume mit fresken zu dekorieren , im apostolischen palast im vatikan . Es befindet sich in dem raum, der seinen namen von ihm hat , die strophe di eliodoro . die vertreibung von heliodorus aus dem tempel illustriert die biblische episode aus 2 Makkabäer ( 3 : 21-28 ) . heliodorus wird von seleucus iv philopator bestellt , der könig von syrien , den im tempel in jerusalem aufbewahrten schatz zu ergreifen . beantwortung der gebete des hohepriesters onias , gott schickt einen reiter, der von zwei jugendlichen unterstützt wird, um heliodorus zu vertreiben .
