Building on his series Tapando para ver (Closing To See), artist Chemi Rosado Seijo created the On The Media series while developing a project for TEORética, a cultural space and art center in San José, Costa Rica in 2000. During his stay in the city, he read the newspapers on a daily basis and made incisions in the many layers of paper to reveal hidden messages in different pages, keeping the leftover scraps to make paper bombs to throw at the newspapers
