The pall is normally made of cardboard covered with fabric, and is used to cover the communion chalice. This example, in white silk, is decorated with plant designs embroidered in gold thread; a Greek cross with trilobate arms, also gold-embroidered is at the centre. It is hemmed with an embroidered purl galloon.
