Erik Andriesse was born in Bussum, Netherlands in 1957. He was a Dutch artist who was known for his paintings of nature, primarily skulls and flowers. He was considered one of the most eminent Dutch painters of his generation and exhibited regularly at home and abroad. In 1987, at the age of 37, he suffered a brain haemorrhage which left him unable to paint for several years. However, in 2006, he began to paint and draw again in his native city of Eindhoven. He passed away in 1993.
