Michael Helmut Roth is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) who has been serving as a member of the German Bundestag since 27 September 1998. From 2013 to 2021 Roth also served as Minister of State for Europe at the German Federal Foreign Office in the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel. From January 2014 to 2021 he was the German government's Commissioner for Franco-German Cooperation.
