Pranas Lapė was a Lithuanian painter and graphic artist. He was born on January 11, 1921, in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Lapė studied at the Kaunas Art Institute from 1941 to 1943. In 1944, he fled to Western Europe and lived in Sweden from 1945 to 1946, where he studied at the A. Bekman Art School. From 1949, he lived in the United States, first in New York and then in Connecticut. Lapė was a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union and participated in group exhibitions of Lithuanian artists abroad. He returned to live in Lithuania in 1998. Lapė was awarded the Order of the Grand Duke Gediminas in 2008. He died on January 13, 2010, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
