Artist from Haarlem, active from 1675 to 1717, also worked in Paris, France (1684) and Great Britain (1690). Pupil of Nicolaes Berchem (1621/22–1683), Jan van Huchtenburg (1647–1646) and Hendrick Mommers (1619/20–1693). Painted Italianate landscapes with hunting and battle scenes, camps, Biblical subjects (landscapes with elements of genre painting) and portraits.
