Artist: Reuben Moulthrop
Дата: 1790
Размер: 92 x 76 cm
Техника: Oil On Canvas
One of the most talented artists of the Connecticut school, Moulthrop must have acquired his obvious knowledge of English portraiture by studying books and prints. His exaggerated portrayal of Mrs. Perit"s coiffure and headdress is in keeping with similar images in contemporary fashion plates. He may also have studied paintings by Ralph Earl, whose works can also be seen in the Museum"s collection.
