"帝国之行"(英語:Course of Empire)是一出由托马斯·科尔于1833-36年所创作的五行系列画作. 其部分表现了当时受欢迎的美国情绪,许多人将牧业视为人类文明的理想阶段,担心帝国会导致奢侈和不可避免的衰败. 第一幅画"萨维奇州"从克克克克克对面的岸上向外展示了山谷,以一出黎明的暴风雨日出后暗淡的光芒. 一只被皮围住的猎人匆匆地穿过了荒野,追逐一头鹿;独木舟划出河来;在远岸上可以看到一团被一团花花环绕着一团火来打扫出一片清澈地,是城市所要成为的核心. 视觉参考是美洲原住民生活的参考.
