1919年是新中华民国政治命运中的重要一年. 结束一战的"凡尔赛条约"将原德国在中国的所有地产转让给日本,而不是满足了中国人对主权的要求和取消外国在中国的特权. 1919年5月4日,学生在北京领导了抗议暴动,反对这次打击中国民族自豪. 至6月,抗议焦点已移到王en所住上海. 五月五日运动导致中华文化民主化,特别是在文学中使用方言. 包括社会主义,共产主义,无政府主义,实用主义和妇女在内的新思想"解放"在城市居民中闪烁. 在这种政治文化变迁的氛围下,王en"1920年春"所绘"相去甚远". 这是一幅隐形画。 被迷雾所迷惑 和"像珍珠一样溅出瀑布" 天堂的形象,无论是佛教净土还是"中国的桃花花泉"等文学史上,都出现在了本届展览的多幅取景地上. 王en"自有佛教信仰"使他在中国抗日情绪高涨之际为日本大地震的灾民募捐.
