Lie Sang Bong is a Korean fashion designer born in Seoul, South Korea in 1964. He is considered one of the most influential people in South Korean fashion and a pioneer of K-fashion in the global fashion industry. Lie Sang Bong began his career by creating couture garments for private clients at his atelier in Seoul. In 1993, he presented his first ready-to-wear collection, 'The Garden of Dreams'. He has showcased his collections at Seoul Fashion Week and entered the Paris market with his ready-to-wear collection in 2002. Lie Sang Bong's designs have been worn by international celebrities such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Lindsay Lohan. His work combines the creative elegance influenced by French fashion with the historic elements of Korea, resulting in a unique and recognizable style. Lie Sang Bong is also known for his advocacy against gapjil, an expression referring to an arrogant and authoritarian attitude or actions of people in South Korea who have positions of power over others. He is a graduate of the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
