Portrait of Arnoud van Halen (1673-1732). Painter, engraver, poet and collector in Amsterdam. Founder of the Panpoetic Batavam. Halfway to the cabinet where he kept his portrait collection. In the left hand an oval portrait, pointing to a drawing or print. No self-portrait as was previously thought, but a copy to the portrait by Lubienitzki from 1725, now at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. Part of a collection of portraits of Dutch poets.
