Mignon, ein Maler von Blumenleben, kam aus Frankfurt und lebte in Utrecht. Seine üppigen Blumen-Lebensleben sehen sehr ähnlich aus wie sein Meister Jan Davidsz de Heem, aber sie sind etwas stärker in Form und Farbe. Das Gemälde gehört mit der anderen Blume Stillleben, die auch hier hängt. Sie stammen aus der Sammlung der Familie Orange-Nassau und wurden im 18. Jahrhundert in Oranienstein Schloss in Diez aufgehängt.
