Diese atmosphärische Aquarell demonstriert Louis Buvelots radikal neue Herangehensweise an die Darstellung des australischen Buschs; ein Klumpen von Bäumen und Sträuchern, die Vorrang vor dem expansiven Yarra-Tal vista jenseits. Buvelot wurde von der jüngeren Künstlergeneration revered, die sein Interesse an zeitlichen und saisonalen Wirkungen und an der Arbeit en plein air in den abgelegenen Bezirken um Melbourne nahm. Der australische Impressionist Tom Roberts sagte, dass Buvelot „die echte Malerei Australiens“ und seine Arbeit in den folgenden Jahrzehnten populär blieb, als andere Kolonialkunst von Gunst gefallen war. Diese Aquarell war früher in der Sammlung von Alfred Felton, der National Gallery of Victoria's größter Wohltäter.
