Lebourg studierte zunächst Kunst der École des Beaux Arts in Rouen und reiste umfassend, verbrachte mehrere Jahre in Algerien als Zeichenlehrer für die Beaux Arts Society of Algiers. Er lebte von 1884 bis 1888 in der Region Auvergne in Frankreich, bevorzugt aber die Landschaft der Normandie und endete in Rouen. Er trat früh in die Impressionistengruppe ein und erschien zweimal in ihren offiziellen Ausstellungen in Paris 1879 und 1880 und stellte im Salon von 1883 bis 1895 aus. An diesem Abend entlang der Ufer der Seine, in der zwölften Arrondissement von Paris, sind die Türme von Notre Dame im mittleren linken Hintergrund sichtbar.
