Eine Holzbrücke überspannt einen Fluss. In der Ferne sind Berge, und dann eine Kirche spire und die Häuser eines Dorfes. Die Details der Komposition können auf der Topographie von bestimmten Orten im Donautal basieren, aber die Landschaft ist wahrscheinlich nicht als Blick auf einen bestimmten Ort gedacht. Dieses Bild ist ein sehr frühes Beispiel eines westeuropäischen Künstlers einer unabhängigen Landschaft ohne Figuren. Eine zweite Landschaft von Altdorfer in München (Alte Pinakothek) ist auch ohne Figuren; das vorliegende Bild stammt möglicherweise aus etwa 1518-20 und kann das frühere der beiden sein.
