Das Inventar vom 24. Mai 1593 zeichnet sich durch die Effekte im Abstellraum des Palazzo Vecchio (Guardaroba Medicea) drei Kupferplatten von Alessandro Allori, die jeweils 3/4 von 2/3 Braccia messen und den toten Christus darstellen, der von zwei Engeln besucht wird. Lecchini Giovannoni (1991) verband diese Notiz mit dem heutigen Gemälde und zwei (unsigned) anderen (im Seminario Patriarcale, Venedig) und verkaufte Sotheby
