Antoni Gaudí war ein katalanischer Architekt. Seine Arbeit ist ungewöhnlich und schwierig zu klassifizieren. Es folgte zunächst den Geboten des katalanischen modernen Stils, entwickelte sich aber zu einem deutlichen Funktionsismus mit rationalistischen Zugeständnissen. Diese Zeichnung, ein Projekt für einen monumentalen Brunnen in Plaça Catalunya, ist eine Übung aus seinen Studentenjahren an der Barcelona School of Architecture. Die Zeichnung beobachtet die neuhistorische Ästhetik, die damals gelehrt wurde.
