Zwei Zahlen von atmosphärischen Beobachtungen in Guildford in Surrey, England von November 1883 bis Januar 1884 in der Nachfolge der Eruption des Vulkans auf Krakatoa, die Insel in der Sunda Straße, Indonesien am 27. August 1883. Die Figuren sind im Begleittext von A H Swinton beschrieben: Abbildung 1 „Form of Sunset at Guildford. Nach dem Glühen, wie vom 27. Nov. 1883 bis zum 11. Jan 184 beobachtet –“; Abbildung 2 „Nachleuchten. Die Farbe klingelt, wie sie sich nacheinander bildeten.“ Die Zahlen erscheinen auf der Rückseite eines Briefes von A H Swinton of Binfield House, Waterden Road Guildford, 22. Februar 1884, an den Meteorologen George James Symons FRS (1838-1900), Herausgeber des Berichts der Royal Society über die Krakatoa Eruption.
