Dieses Foto ist eines der wenigen Bilder, die Arnold Schönberg als Fotograf aufgrund seiner eigenen Unterschrift eindeutig zugeordnet werden können. Er benutzte eine einfache Kodak-Box-Kamera; so waren seine technischen Einschränkungen ausgesprochen – viele der Fotos waren außer Fokus oder falsch exponiert. Schönberg muss die Porträts seiner Frau Mathilde in der Wohnung (Berlin Zehlendorf, Machnower Chaussee & Dietloffstraße, Villa Lepcke) sehr sorgfältig unterstützt haben, um ihren vergleichsweise scharfen Fokus zu erreichen.
