Der englische Architekt A.W.N. Pugin entwarf nur eine kleine Menge Schmuck. Diese Brosche ist Teil eines größeren Satzes (Paar) von Juwelen im gotischen Stil und das Design ist inspiriert von mittelalterlichen kirchlichen Dekoration. Pugin hat es für die Frau entworfen, die er vorgeschlagen hat, seine dritte Frau zu machen. Die Ehe fand nicht statt, und 1848 traf er Jane Knill und heiratete sie und gab ihr die Qual. Im Jahre 1851 erschien die komplette Parure auf der Großen Ausstellung in London im Rahmen des mittelalterlichen Hofes.
