In Jeune Servante (Waiting Maid) konzentriert sich Soutine auf ein einzelnes Subjekt vor einem unbegleiteten Hintergrund, eine anonyme, Arbeiterklasse-Figur in Uniform mit typisch expressiven und taktilen Pinselarbeit bemalt. Das Gemälde hat auch einen zweiten Titel, La Soubrette (bezüglich eines kokettischen Charakters aus Operette), die - möglicherweise zum Verkauf - gegeben wurde, als die Arbeit in London im Jahr 1938 in einer Show mit dem Titel The Tragic Painters at Alex, Reid & Lefevre Ltd. angeboten wurde, wenn es auch mit dem Datum von c.1925, obwohl der ursprüngliche Titel näher zu dem Künstler scheint.
