Ein Künstler von unvergleichlicher Fantasie und ausdrucksstarker Macht, Tura war Hofmaler für die Herzoge von Ferrara. Diese Szene zeigt eine müde Heilige Familie, die nach Ägypten floh, nachdem König Herodes eine Warnung erhalten hatte, um das Kind Jesus zu töten. Dieser Ring gehört zu einer Serie von drei, die das frühe Leben Christi zeigen. Die Serie kann von der Basis (Predella) eines Altarstücks kommen, möglicherweise Turas beeindruckendes Roverella Altarpiece, dessen zentrale Panel in der National Gallery, London. Die nervöse, kalligraphische Linie und mystische Landschaft sind typisch für den Künstler.
