All sein Leben Dai verfolgte einen trockenen, weich texturierten Stil und kreierte evocative Bilder von Daoist Reclusion und hochgeprägter Selbstkultivierung. Dieses Album, eines der schönsten Beispiele von Dai’s Kunst, ist stilistisch auf seine späte Reife, um 1690. In traditioneller Weise schließt das Album mit einer Schneelandschaft. Dais letzte Worte auf diesem Blatt macht deutlich, dass die Absicht seines Gemäldes Selbstausdruck sowie Repräsentation ist. Ich säubere meinen Tintenstein nicht nur zu malen, sondern um die Bilder in meinem Verstand zu offenbaren.
