Degas war fasziniert von der Welt des Balletts; daher war es prominent in vielen seiner Gemälde. Hier ist die Gruppe von Tänzern in einer mittleren Performance dargestellt, von einer oberen Seitenbox aus gesehen. Nur eine der Mädchen im Grünen ist voller Länge gezeigt, gefangen, wie sie eine schnelle, komplizierte Drehung. Die anderen Figuren sind geerntet, so dass der Betrachter den Rest vorstellen kann. Im Hintergrund stehen eine Reihe von in Orange gekleideten Ballerinas vor der Landschaftskulisse, die auf ihre Wendung wartet. Degas
