In Edgar Degas’ Dancer mit Bouquets gibt es nichts. Mit Blumen zu ihren Füßen beugt sich eine Prima Ballerina unlegant gegen ihr Publikum. Die harte Beleuchtung scheint gegen sie zurück zu stoßen, ihre Funktionen zu beleuchten und zu zeigen, dass sie viele Male zuvor getanzt hat. Degas, auch spät in seiner Karriere, hatte die Details seiner früheren Gemälde verlassen. Stattdessen bemalte er flache Farbhübe und dicke schwarze Umrisse, die Details unentschlüsselbar machen. Fasziniert von Tänzern und den harten, oft unglamourösen Leben, die sie geführt haben, ist diese Leinwand eine von vielen Degas, die dem Thema gewidmet sind. 71.507
