Zweifellos das letzte Werk des handwerklichen Glases, das vom Meister von Nancy produziert wird, stellt diese gerade, aufrechte Hand den Höhepunkt seiner technischen Meisterschaft dar. Geformt unter Hitze, die Hand ist mit polychromatischen Anwendungen dekoriert, einige in hoher Entlastung. Er wurde 1904 in einem Schaufenster mit dem Titel The Deep Sea ausgestellt. Die maritime Welt bot Gallé Inspiration für viele seiner dekorativen Motive, die, wie die Verse von Baudelaire, die symbolische Rolle des Meeres gefeiert.
