Obwohl sie nie am Bauhaus beschäftigt war, war die ausdrucksstarke Tänzerin Gret Palucca (1902–1993) seit den 1920er Jahren Mitglied des Künstlerkreises rund um das Bauhaus. Bauhaus-Meister wie Wassily Kandinsky und László Moholy-Nagy wurden von Paluccas mächtigen Bewegungen fasziniert, die sie inspirierten, ihre eigenen künstlerischen Werke zu schaffen.
