Im Laufe seiner Karriere bemalte Eugène Boudin regelmäßig die bunten Regattas, die an der Normandie-Küste stattfanden und wichtige touristische Attraktionen waren. In dieser Arbeit werden die Schiffe im Hafen von Deauville mit bunten Fahnen, die sich drehen und im Wind drehen, festlich. Das Festivalbootrennen findet im Vordergrund statt. Boudin wurde das „Können der Himmel“ genannt, und hier evoziert er wunderbar die wechselnden Bewegungen der Wolken. Enge Prüfung zeigt, dass die Inschrift „Deauville Aout 95“ („Deauville, August 95“) und die Signatur unten links (in dunkler Farbe) vom Künstler zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten angewendet wurden.
