Die ersten nordamerikanischen Vogeldeko wurden von Native Americans geschnitzt. Erstellt von Shinnecock Indian Eugene Cuffee (1866-1941), verbindet diese einzigartige heron decoy’s lange, spindly Form und gemalte Feder Schema mit einer Tradition, die die europäische Ankunft zum East End of Long Island vorschreibt. Manschetten war ein Jagdführer und Hausmaler, vor allem in Southampton aktiv; seine Dekojen sind durch ihre markante aufwendige Gefieder gekennzeichnet.
