Ausgehend von etwa 1500–1510 zeigt dieses schöne Bild die "Schweiz und Harmonie der Färbung", die Francia zu einem Vorläufer der High Renaissance-Kunst machte. Wie mit seinen Zeitgenossen Perugino und Bellini wurde Francia besonders bewundert für das, was als "devotionaler Stil" der Malerei bezeichnet wurde, in dem die Verfeinerung und Delikatesse der Technik und die Gelassenheit der Ausdrücke das Bild zu einem idealen Fokus für Meditation und Gebet machte.
