Dieses Gemälde präsentiert einen Blick auf das tägliche Leben in Brooklyn, New York. Francis Guy malte die geschäftige Kreuzung von Front, James und Fulton Streets aus dem Fenster seines Studios im zweiten Stock. Um die Architektur zu erfassen und Raum zu rezitieren, stellte Guy Gaze vor seinem Fenster und "traced" die Szene mit Kreide, dann übertragen die Skizze auf seine Leinwand. Die Leute, die er dargestellt hatte, waren seine Nachbarn. Ein anonymer afrikanischer amerikanischer Arbeiter schneidet Holz im Vordergrund, während links ein Metzger namens Jacob Patchen schlendert entlang eines Beins von Mutton, und Zimmermann Benjamin Meeker steht im Zentrum, hält einen quadratischen und Messstock.
