Historische Szene, die den Moment repräsentiert, als der erste Präsident der Republik, Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca, den Eid der Bundesverfassung am 26. Februar 1891. Das Gemälde zeigt mehrere Abgeordnete, die Mitglieder der Nationalen Konstituierenden Versammlung sind, die von Prudente de Moraes, deren Figur das Zentrum des Gemäldes besetzt, überwiegt. Derzeit wird die Arbeit im Ministersaal des Palácio do Catete (Museu da República) ausgestellt.
