Das ehemalige Douglas Mansion auf der West 14th Street war das zweite Zuhause von 1873 bis 1879, bevor es zu seinem aktuellen Standort zog. Aus den frühesten Jahren des Museums hatte die Skulptur eine dominante physische Präsenz, wie dieser Blick auf die Eingangshalle bezeugt. Basierend auf in-situ-Zeichnungen, Waller sorgfältig aufgezeichnet die Installation, später bemerkte, dass "soweit es geht, kann es abhängig von so genau, und dafür [sic] historisch." Der erste Präsident der Art Students League, eine 1875 gegründete Schule, befürwortete er für die Bildungsmission von Museen. Hier konsultiert eine Frau aufmerksam ein Handbuch vor William Wetmore Storys Polyxena (1873), dann über Darlehen an The Met.
