Das Öl auf Leinwand, auf der linken Unterseite von Pietro Galter, zeigt einen der monumentalen und eigentümlichsten Blicke von Venedig: Punta della Dogana, die den Canal Grande von Giudecca trennt. Hinter dem Dogana-Turm dominiert die monumentale Kirche Santa Maria della Salute die Szene, während die Lagune von Lichtwellen, die im Vordergrund quellen, durch die Anwesenheit von mehreren Segeln und einer Gondel mit einem Gondolier mit einem weißen Hemd belebt wird. Die durch die Reflexionen von Booten und Denkmälern gebrochene Meeresoberfläche wird zum Zeitpunkt der Dämmerung erfasst, wie das Licht des Sonnenuntergangs unter den rosa Wolken des Himmels hervorhebt.
