Die Erinnerungen sitzen auf Felsen am Meer und baden in der Mitternachtssonne in einer Küstenlandschaft. Ein Segelboot bewegt sich auf dem ruhigen Meer. Der dünne Mond liegt über steilen Bergen. Saal war ein deutscher Maler, der am besten für seine Gemälde norwegischer Landschaften bekannt war. Er war Klassenkameraden mit dem berühmten norwegischen Maler Hans Gude, bei der Kunstakademie, wenn Düsseldorf. Die beiden reisten mehrmals nach Norwegen, um eine Erfahrung zu malen, die er norwegische Natur.
