Dieses Porträt hat einen ungewöhnlichen Eichenrahmen, der eher von einem Schränker als einem traditionellen Ständermacher gebaut wurde. Es wurde wahrscheinlich gemacht, um die Ausstattung und architektonische Details eines Zimmers in der Wohnung des Sitzers. Jane Crane Andrews (1840–1930), hier um die Zeit ihrer Ehe gesehen, war später Mitglied des Vorstands des Frauenklinikums und der National Society of Colonial Dames. Ihr Mann, William, war ein Treuhänder des Metropolitan Museum of Art und organisierte seine Bibliothek im Jahre 1880.
