Diese Gitarre ist bemerkenswert für ihre aufwendige Dekoration, vor allem das Griffbrett mit seiner Perlmutt graviert und farbige Platten. Die sieben oberen Abschnitte des Griffbretts zeigen berühmte Gebäude und Denkmäler, darunter das Palais du Luxembourg, Porte Saint-Denis und das Ecole Militaire, während die unteren Platten musikalische Instrumente, Arme und Rüstung und florale Motive darstellen. Der Macher, George Chanot, machte Streichinstrumente in Paris Mitte bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Es gibt Berichte, dass diese Gitarre auf der Weltmesse in London (1851) gezeigt wurde. Zwar ist es sicherlich die Art von hoch dekorierten, Show-Instrument, die ausgestellt worden sein könnte, haben wir noch zu entdecken Beweise für seine Anzeige, sowie Beweise, die das Gerücht unterstützen, dass es einmal im Besitz von Kaiserin Eugenie von Frankreich.
